CONGRATULATIONS to the boys cross country team on making history this past weekend at the Regional Championship race. For the first time since 1954 the Hornets will be sending a team to the state finals! Going into the race on Saturday the team knew each runner would have to be at their best for the team to advance to the State Finals and that is exactly what they did. The runners started off the race fast, but patient, knowing other runners would be excited to get out front early. As the race went on, the Hornets continued to move up. By the last half mile of the race the boys were able to find another gear, and powered to the finish line. Almost every runner matched or beat their previous personal best times. Sam Yarnelle continued to show why he is one of the best runners in the state, leading the Hornets by placing 4th overall. Following Sam were the trio of Kaden Klink, Cooper Enyeart, and Gavin Hinkley. Kaden ran a PR and showed just how tough he is with his performance. Cooper may have been the single biggest difference maker in terms of scoring for the team by running a huge PR and significantly outperforming his projected finishing place. Gavin Hinkley continued his remarkable senior season with another great run. Grady Hoover ran a major personal best, while Gavin Cooke and Brady Leininger ran close to their personal bests as well. This was the best combined team effort so far this season. If you see these the boys give them a shout out on their performance and wish them the best this coming weekend as they travel to Terre Haute to wrap up their season against the best teams in the state.
